When Mac Davis’ song “Oh Lord It’s Hard to be Humble” hit the charts in 1980, it wasn’t hard to see why. Besides the catchy refrain, this song is about a man so high in his own self regard that he can’t see how lonely he is. Love eludes him and his only company becomes the reflection in the mirror. Without humility, he misses most of life’s beauty. This Sunday we’ll be exploring how the practice of humility connects us to the earth, to others and to ourselves.
