Music is an integral part of our worship. As a universal language, music has the power to touch each person deeply and to unite us all in joy or sorrow.
The musical life of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of La Crosse is rich and varied. Classical works, jazz, folk, and world music can be heard here. Musical selections are chosen to integrate thematically with the services.
We have a music director and a small, spirited choir. In the fall of 2008 the fellowship purchased a new Yamaha U1 piano to enhance our music.
If you can walk, you can dance; if you can talk, you can sing.
Our choir is a group of people who enjoy making music together. Twice-a-month evening rehearsals are an energetic mix of singing and having fun. This group sings at our service two Sundays each month, September through May.
Our choir always welcomes new voices. We don’t require auditions, but if you can sing and are willing to attend rehearsals, we’d love to have you join us. For more information, contact Mark Tollefsen at email@example.com or 608-796-9993.
Our evening rehearsals are the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 7 to 8:45 p.m. On the Sundays we sing, our rehearsals begin at 8:45 a.m.
Mark Tollefsen joins us from Kentucky State University, where he was Assistant Professor of Piano and Music Theory. He holds a Doctorate in Music from University of Cincinnati in Piano, and teaches at Viterbo University full time.
As advocates for music in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of La Crosse, the music committee is committed to enhancing worship and fellowship through the experience of music listening, participation and performance.
